Position Summary
Position Summary:
Provides program support responsible for the delivery of the Baby Steps Program in the community. Works closely with hospital departments and healthcare providers to support referrals to the Baby Steps program as a comprehensive program that provides health care for mothers and their babies.
Job Requirement
Education/Experience:
Equivalent to graduation from high school and three (3) years of experience in the health care field as a medical office assistant or comparable experience.
Licensing/Certification Requirements:
None required.
Additional and/or Preferred Position Requirements
Preferred Requirements:
- Current experience assisting with assessing prenatal care is preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements
Knowledge of:
Medical terminology; physician medical specialties; community medical/health care services; office theories and principles; computers and associated software; department and hospital safety practices and principles; infection control policies and practices; patient rights; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.
Skill in:
Applying customer service techniques; filling out claims, forms and applications according to laws and guidelines; organizing and prioritizing work; maintaining information/data; preparing technical and statistical reports; performing technical, specialized, complex and difficult office support work; using a personal computer and application software programs; networking with other health care organizations; communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment, stamina to remain seated for long periods of time and maintain concentration, vision to read printed materials and a VDT screen, and hearing and speech to communicate effectively in person and over the telephone. Strength and agility to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
