We are seeking a Backend Engineer who thrives on building scalable APIs and integrations that power AI-driven products. You’ll design and develop the backbone of X-Demand — from model-serving APIs to ERP/e-commerce integrations — working closely with our Data Science and AI teams to bring intelligent systems into production.
Responsibilities
- Design and build REST/GraphQL APIs to serve ML model outputs (forecasting, pricing, inventory).
- Develop secure integration endpoints for external systems (POS, ERP, e-commerce).
- Work with Data/ML team to deploy models into production-ready services.
- Ensure API reliability, versioning, and documentation for internal & external use.
- Optimize performance, scalability, and maintainability of backend services.
- Implement observability and monitoring tools to track API and model performance in production
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience developing backend services using or Python (FastAPI/Django/Django REST FRAMEWORK).
- Strong background in REST APIs, integrations, and microservices architecture.
- Hands-on Experience with databases (Postgres, MongoDB, or similar).
- Familiarity with cloud services (AWS/GCP/Azure).
- Must have experience in AI/ML concepts (model inference, data pipelines, or MLOps).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with GraphQL or gRPC for high-performance APIs.
- Knowledge of event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Pub/Sub).
- Exposure to OAuth2, JWT, and enterprise security standards.
- Experience integrating or serving AI/ML models in production environments.
- Background in retail, e-commerce, or SaaS product integrations.
Familiarity with vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, or ChromaDB) and embedding-based search
