Job description
What you will do:
As a key member of the Rainbow Six Siege Game Security team, the Data Scientist - Player Protection and Game Security plays an essential role in preserving the integrity of the player experience. This role aims to leverage data to detect and mitigate threats that compromise fairness, safety and trust in the game.
The Data Scientist will focus on protecting three core pillars:
1. Monetization fairness, addressing issues such as marketplace abuse and item exploitation.
2. Competitive integrity, identifying behaviors like boosting and smurfing.
3. Account integrity, combating account theft, unauthorized access and account sales.
The initial priority will be to lead the strategy against marketplace abuse and grey market fraud. This includes analyzing abuse patterns and fraud types, defining key metrics to monitor their evolution, designing alerting systems to automatically detect marketplace anomalies, recommending response strategies and post-detection protections, and collaborating with the monetization team to implement reinforcing mechanisms that limit abuse while preserving market freedom.
Beyond monetization, the Data Scientist will contribute to strategies to maintain competitive integrity within the game, ensuring analyses and interventions align with the mission of protecting players and maintaining a fair environment.
Regarding account integrity, the role involves applying cross-functional expertise to strengthen existing defenses, oversee monitoring systems and ensure rapid detection and response to emerging threats.
Responsibilities
- Marketplace abuse strategy
Lead the development and implementation of strategies to detect and mitigate marketplace and grey market abuse. Define and track key metrics to identify fraudulent behaviors, build alerting systems to flag anomalies, and collaborate with monetization teams to design protections that reduce abuse while preserving market dynamics. Provide data-driven analyses to support enforcement actions and policy adjustments.
- Cross-team collaboration
Work with teams such as Ubisoft Data Office, Online Services, Security Risk Management, Customer Relationship Center and Game Security to improve detection and response capabilities. Connect data across systems to trace the full abuse cycle, from detection to sanction and appeals.
- Player-protection indicator-based alerts
Create alerts based on key indicators (KPIs) reflecting the health of the player protection ecosystem. Develop real-time alerting systems based on abuse trends, system effectiveness and malicious actor behaviors.
- Abuse intelligence systems
Develop and maintain systems to detect abuse patterns in competitive play, monetization and account areas. Leverage data from multiple ecosystems to identify emerging threats and assess their impact on players.
- Innovation and research
Stay informed of industry trends in anomaly detection, behavioral analysis and data science applied to games. Propose new approaches and technologies to strengthen player protection strategies.
Qualifications
What you bring:
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in data science or analytics, computer science, statistics or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in data science, ideally in video games, fraud detection or cybersecurity.
- Knowledge of fraud detection in financial markets.
- Mastery of anomaly detection techniques, classification models and clustering methods.
- Experience in behavioral analysis and fraud detection algorithms.
- Experience building or maintaining real-time alerting systems or streaming data pipelines.
- Familiarity with game telemetry, matchmaking systems or player behavior analysis is a plus.
Competencies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent communication skills, able to turn complex data into concrete recommendations.
- Curiosity, pragmatism and adaptability to constantly evolving challenges.
