BBC Northern Ireland is seeking to recruit a Correspondent based in Dublin to cover stories in the Republic of Ireland across all our platforms. We are looking for an experienced journalist with a track record of delivering original stories on digital, television and radio, a passion for and experience of covering political and social issues and events across the Republic, and an understanding of audiences in the digital age. The successful candidate will be a creative thinker who can simplify complex editorial issues and write and produce quality, informative and engaging content. As part of the NI News Content team, you will particularly focus on identifying stories which connect with underserved audiences. You will write fresh and engaging digital content, file for rolling live pages, and be a confident on-air performer on both TV and Radio, able to handle complex editorial issues and treat stories with creativity and objectivity. You’ll be a self-starter who is able to generate original stories and work flexibly according to the news agenda and across the Republic of Ireland as necessary. Experience of providing sound analysis of politics in the Republic would also be an advantage.
### **Main Responsibilities**
- To keep well informed on social, economic and political affairs across the landscape with a focus on the Republic of Ireland, as well as Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK.
- To provide expert analysis for the audience and guidance for the newsroom on relevant issues and editorial developments.
- Bringing forward exclusive story ideas and treatments for Digital, TV and Radio audiences.
- Writing engaging copy for scripting across output.
- Working for the BBC NI News Content team on breaking and diary stories to provide coverage across our complete range of output.
- Pitch story and treatment ideas to cross platform team meetings and keep news teams updated on developments and breaking stories in the Republic.
- To work on BBC NI output based in Dublin on a self-sufficient basis and also to work further afield as and when required.
- To self-shoot and edit as necessary to provide for all outlets.
- To pitch stories and ensure a co-ordinated and smooth rollout across BBC News.
