The Fleet Support Engineer on the Vehicle Development team will be actively engaged in the operational uptime of our fleet. The ideal candidate will be a technical expert, adept at collaborating with cross-functional teams, meticulously documenting troubleshooting processes, and providing real-time support for daily operations.
**Shift: Sat-Wed 8am-6pm local time**
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for real-time escalations for sensor-related fleet issues.
- Conduct in-depth root cause analysis through comprehensive log review to identify and resolve fleet issues.
- Develop, update, and maintain a comprehensive troubleshooting guide for technicians, incorporating newly diagnosed faults and their resolutions.
- Perform hardware bring-up and validation procedures for new sensor components (LiDAR, radar, cameras, etc.).
- Design and implement diagnostic procedures to streamline future troubleshooting processes, with a focus on sensor calibration and data integrity.
- Historical review of vehicle/fleet data, including sensor data, identifying trends and issues.
- Collaborate with engineering design teams to enhance tooling and improve issue detection capabilities.
- Develop and implement effective countermeasures across the fleet to prevent recurring issues.
- Define and capture essential data points to validate issue resolution and measure the effectiveness of implemented solutions.
- Engage in cross-functional collaboration to drive continuous improvement in vehicle performance and reliability.
- Availability for overtime as needed, with advanced notice provided.
- Willingness to travel occasionally within the U.S. to support various operational locations.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Minimum 4-6 years of relevant experience in transportation, aerospace, or autonomous vehicles, with a specific focus on perception systems and sensors.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
- Experience with low/high voltage circuits, Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS), and how to safely troubleshoot.
- Understanding of hardware and software systems architecture, communications to support in an operations setting.
- Embraces a holistic problem-solving approach to identifying issues with high-level vehicle functions and drive specific resolution into single components.
- Self-starter, ability to build relationships across the company.
- Ability to comprehend schematics, electrical diagrams, connector end views/pinout.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with electric vehicle technology.
- Experience with remotely supporting vehicle troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of vehicle systems and diagnostics tools.
- Experience with Linux & Python-based programming systems for fleet-level data processing.
- Experience with software that interfaces with hardware.
- Familiarity with networking, TCP, and socket programming.
Bonus Qualifications
- Knowledge of automotive functional safety (ISO26262) standards
- Firmware / Software experience (managing/developing/testing)
- Experience with chassis and/or electromechanical systems
