Objectives and Purpose of the Job:
The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely operating forklifts to move, locate, and relocate materials within the warehouse. This role is crucial for ensuring that products are stored efficiently and are readily available for shipment, thereby maintaining smooth operational flow within the warehouse environment.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to move products and materials to designated areas within the warehouse.
- Load and unload goods from containers and trucks, ensuring that all items are handled safely and efficiently.
- Conduct pre-operational checks on forklifts and report any malfunctions or safety issues to the Warehouse Supervisor.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy in inventory management, ensuring that all items are correctly placed and counted.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines while operating equipment, ensuring a safe working environment for all warehouse personnel.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding material requirements and any issues that arise during operations.
- Assist in performing routine maintenance checks on equipment, reporting any needed repairs to management.
- Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) for tracking inventory levels and movements as necessary.
- Participate in training programs as required for skill and safety enhancement.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management to ensure smooth operation of the warehouse.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Forklift Operator Certification
- At least 2 years of experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or industrial setting
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Basic mathematical skills for inventory management
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work
- Good physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy items (up to 50 pounds)
- Strong commitment to safety procedures and regulations
