Position description
As a Game Director on Rainbow Six Siege, you will transform a creative vision into a variety of systems and mechanics that combine to create a compelling game experience. You will convey high-level direction to your team so they can design the game features they own, while giving them the flexibility to experiment and iterate.
While the design team focuses on their specialties, you will care for the big picture, overseeing the overall outcome: progression, pacing, balance and, of course, game quality. You will ensure all design-related elements work together coherently to match the intended experience and that it is fun.
What you will do:
- Work with creative leadership and members of the management team to define the game and align visions;
- Develop your game design vision and communicate (and advocate) it within production;
- Support your game designers in feature development (e.g., game mechanics, progression systems, combat systems, weapon attributes, AI behaviors, 3C, etc.), and provide mentoring and constructive feedback to reach quality;
- Collaborate with cross-dependent teams to ensure cohesion of all conceptual, technical, visual and narrative elements;
- Evaluate and discuss budgets and timelines with the Producer(s) and keep the editorial team informed of progress and milestones;
- Adapt to technical and production constraints, feedback and playtest results by readjusting your design direction as needed;
- Track features post-launch to improve, add or remove elements and interpret data to inform decision-making;
- Occasionally travel locally and abroad to present the game, meet external partners, visit co-development studios, etc.;
- Anticipate technological advances and stay informed of market trends to evolve our production processes and define best practices, and share them with our studios.
Qualifications:
- About 7 years of game design or other relevant experience, plus 3 years in leadership;
- Experience on competitive live shooter games;
- Deep knowledge of game engines (e.g., Unity or Unreal) and their limitations, Photoshop and the Office suite (notably Excel and PowerPoint);
- A degree in game design or equivalent;
- An innovative, empathetic, creative and collaborative mindset;
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation, problem-solving, organization and mentoring skills;
- Critical thinking, curiosity, resourcefulness and high flexibility;
- Ability to examine data and draw meaningful conclusions;
- Knowledge of online gaming communities and live streaming platforms (e.g., Twitch);
- Extensive understanding of the market and a strong passion for video games.
What to send:
- Your CV highlighting education, experiences, skills and delivered games, if applicable.
