About us: Curewiki is building a patient-driven platform that helps individuals discover and join clinical trials that match their profile. We aim to make clinical research more transparent, accessible, and human by combining data, product excellence, and AI-powered matching. We are progressing toward Product-Market Fit and looking for a Head of Tech who wants to build, experiment, and shape a product with real impact.
Why join us: As our first internal technical leader, you will play a central role in designing and building Curewiki’s technical foundations.
You will work closely with the Head of Product to explore ideas, prototype quickly, validate assumptions, and build the architecture that will support Curewiki’s growth. This is an AI-first and hands-on role in the early phase, with the opportunity to gradually build an internal engineering team once the core foundations are validated. You will also collaborate with our current external development team during the transition period.
What you will do
- Lead an AI-first technical approach, integrating modern tools such as LLMs, embeddings, NLP, automation, and data-driven matching.
- Work directly with Product on experimentation, rapid prototyping, user feedback loops, and iterative delivery.
- Design a modular, API-first architecture that supports fast iteration today and solid scalability tomorrow.
- Contribute hands-on to development in the initial months.
- Build and maintain reliable systems with strong attention to data quality, performance, observability, and security.
- Collaborate with the current external engineering team and progressively recruit and onboard an internal team.
- Ensure compliance with privacy, security, and health-data regulations.
Requirements
- Strong engineering background with experience in modern stacks (e.g., Node.js, TypeScript, React, Python or similar).
- Experience or strong interest in AI/ML technologies (LLMs, embeddings, NLP) and their integration into production systems.
- Ability to move fast and iterate: comfortable working with incomplete information and evolving product requirements.
- Excellent collaboration skills and the ability to work in lockstep with Product, Design and Growth.
- Hands-on mindset with the ability to prototype, debug, and ship code.
- Knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP), system architecture, and secure data handling.
- Fluency in English; French or Dutch is a plus.
- Based in Belgium or eligible to work in Belgium without a visa.
Benefits
- Fully remote and asynchronous way of working to support work/life integration. Please note that we only hire applicants, living in Belgium.
- A real possibility to have impact with the work that you're doing.
- Physical get togethers with the whole team to talk strategy, objectives and co-create our unique Curewiki culture.
- Gross salary between 6000 - 7500 gross/month + fringe benefits such as meal vouchers, eco cheques, net allowances, insurances, etc.
