For a Leading Dry bulk Shipping Company: Legal Counsel (Maritime)
Responsibilities
Provide legal advice on a wide range of maritime matters
Draft, review and negotiate commercial and maritime contracts
Handle claims, disputes and P&I / H&M matters
Prepare legal opinions on various shipping-related issues
Support the company in day-to-day corporate and compliance matters
Liaise with external legal counsels, P&I Clubs, brokers and international counterparties
Advise on Sale & Purchase (S&P) transactions, including MoAs, delivery documentation and related negotiations
Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations and internal policies
Assist management with legal strategy and risk assessment
Requirements
At least 5 years of working experience in a shipping company or a maritime law office
Strong knowledge of maritime law and international shipping practices
Proven experience in handling claims and drafting legal opinions
Excellent command of the English language (written & verbal)
Computer literacy and ability to work with modern legal and office software
Effective communication and negotiation skills
Experience in S&P transactions is a strong advantage
Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and operate in a fast-paced environment
LLM in Maritime Law or relevant postgraduate studies
Familiarity with charterparties, ship management agreements, insurance policies and compliance frameworks
Previous in-house shipping experience considered a plus
