ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Manager, Finance Systems, and Special Projects will lead the modernization of Inkomoko’s financial systems and drive strategic projects across the Finance function. This role focuses on implementing scalable financial processes, piloting financial technology tools, and leading special initiatives that enhance efficiency, compliance, and decision-making across the organization. The position holder can be based in any of our offices: Addis, Kigali, Nairobi, Juba or N'Djamena.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Systems & Process Innovation
- Optimize financial systems across Inkomoko countries including ERP implementation , expense tools and dashboards, and develop the workplans, communications, and project management tools needed for roll out of these systems.
- Identify gaps and opportunities to streamline financial workflows across the organisational footprint, using digital tools and automation.
- Collaborate with IT and finance teams to develop scalable, integrated systems for budgeting, reporting, and compliance.
- Manage the Chart of Accounts aligned with organisational needs, programs and funder requirements, to support accurate reporting, budgeting and decision making.
- Manage the GL matrix, ensuring appropriate controls and sign off.
- Stay current on emerging and innovative financial technologies and tools relevant to the NGO and social enterprise sector.
2. Strategic Financial Projects
- Design and lead cross-country special projects aligned with Inkomoko’s financial strategy (e.g., zero-paper finance, cost allocation reform, grant financial reporting redesign).
- Support finance transformation initiatives tied to growth, new country launches, or strategic pivots.
- Prepare project proposals, charters, timelines, and monitor implementation effectiveness.
3. Regional Finance Coordination & Capacity Building
- Partner with country finance leads to ensure system adoption and process compliance.
- Support capacity building and training for finance staff on systems, innovations, and new tools.
- Lead the month end and year end closing calendar and process for finance systems, ensuring adherence to timelines, and
- Serve as a resource for finance teams during audits, grant setup, and strategic planning cycles.
4. Leadership, Reporting & Risk
- Report to the Finance Director, on project progress and risk mitigation strategies.
- Develop and maintain documentation, SOPs, and compliance guidance for new systems and tools.
- Promote a culture of innovation, data-driven decision-making, and financial excellence across the organization.
5. Team Leadership and Culture
- Build a high performing, multi country finance team through coaching and performance management.
- Align the team’s work and culture with Inkomoko’s values and talent framework, emphasizing learning, inclusion, and impact.
Requirements
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field. Master’s or CPA/ACCA preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in finance, systems implementation, or project management, preferably in multi-country INGOs or social enterprises.
- Experience implementing ERP systems, budgeting tools, or digital finance platforms.
- Strong project management skills and ability to lead cross-functional teams.
- Skilled in process design, financial analysis, and using data for operational decision-making.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; fluency in English required, French or Swahili an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural, and values-driven environment.
