The Production Optimisation Manager is responsible for overseeing well and field performance to enhance production efficiency across several assets.
This role ensures alignment with the company's strategic goals and involves managing three of our key teams: Well Performance, Process Engineering and Production Chemistry to identify and implement optimisation opportunities to drive production growth.
In this capacity, you will be working with various stakeholders to streamline operations, reduce costs, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Additionally, you will oversee contract management for key resources like chemicals and ESP systems with the end goal of ensuring optimal asset performance.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
HSSE
- Ensure all Productions Operations activities are consistently executed with the strict respect of Assala Values and the requirements of Assala Energy HSSE Management Standard.
- Focus on Process Safety Management on all assets to prevent unplanned releases of hazardous substances and thus any major incident.
- Develop ESG awareness. Take the lead to ensure companies objectives regarding Gas Flaring Reduction, Green House Gas Emissions, Waste Management are consistently met.
TECHNICAL
- Develop tools / guidelines / KPI’s to monitor and optimize oil fields performance.
- Make recommendations to Subsurface and Operations to maintain production capabilities and maximize assets production.
- Ensure wells production performance is optimized across all assets
- In coordination with subsidiary Finance and Technical teams, participate if necessary to the preparation opex budget to be submitted to Assala management by Q3 each year.
- Regularly conduct production performance and production losses reviews. Conduct analysis and propose solutions to maximise well and facility production uptime
- Provide to assets all technical support to optimize operations of wells and processes.
- Perform technologies screening, evaluate fit-for-purpose methods or production equipment that could be implemented to enhance operated production or reduce operational costs.
- Act as technical bridge between operations and subsurface and projects teams.
- Drive well performance, process engineering and integrity teams to provide the technical support to assets and fields.
- Identify synergies and opportunities leading to operational costs optimization. Take actively the lead for the implementation within subsidiaries
- Design standardized process flow, reports, methods. Support to harmonize equipment, consumables…
The responsibilities of the role also cover :
Well Production: Conduct diagnostics on well performance when required, ensuring optimization aligns with company strategy and sub-surface recommendations. Manage rigless priority planning and resolve conflicts between activities, while transferring best practices across assets. Oversee well startup programs, CAPEX well performance summaries, and define strategies for ESP systems installation.
Production Chemistry: Manage production chemistry contracts and chemical stocks, monitor performance through laboratory analysis, and provide expert advice on chemical processes in oil production. Identify cost optimization opportunities and define the overall process chemistry management strategy, coordinating with the Production Chemistry department on downhole treatments.
Process Engineering: Lead the Process Engineering Team to optimize production and reduce costs, ensuring collaboration with cross-functional teams for smooth integration of new processes. Provide technical leadership in safety reviews, implement innovative solutions to engineering challenges, and utilize data-driven decision-making for operational excellence.
HSSE: Maintain a strong knowledge of HSSE rules and regulations.
Requirements
- Engineering degree with extended experience in the oil industry, focusing on production optimisation, well performance, and process engineering.
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams, particularly in well performance, production chemistry, and process engineering roles.
- Strong knowledge of artificial lift systems, well diagnostics, and production optimisation techniques.
- Familiarity with well modelling and monitoring software such as Prosper, GAP, and PI Process Book.
- Solid understanding of subsurface principles, including geology, reservoir engineering, and flow assurance.
- Experience managing contracts and budgets related to chemicals, ESP systems, and laboratory analysis.
- Knowledge of HSSE standards and demonstrated commitment to safety and environmental practices.
- Proficiency in English; French is an asset.
