The Role
We are looking for a Senior Liferay Developer to take a leading role in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and robust Liferay-based web portals. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, high-performance, and user-friendly solutions on the Liferay Digital Experience Platform (DXP). This role requires strong technical leadership, deep Java/Liferay expertise, and a proactive problem-solving mindset.
Core responsibilities
- Develop and maintain custom portlets, themes, hooks, and OSGi modules using Liferay best practices.
- Customize and extend Liferay platform features to meet specific business needs.
- Integrate Liferay with external systems (e.g., REST APIs, LDAP, SSO, third-party tools).
- Collaborate with architects and designers to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Monitor and optimize portal performance, security, and scalability.
- Conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers on best practices and development standards.
- Participate in sprint planning, technical discussions, and agile ceremonies.
- Support deployment and configuration in various environments (e.g., Dev, QA, Prod).
- Stay up to date with the latest Liferay features, tools, and industry trends.
Requirements
- Technical Expertise:
Strong background in Java/J2EE, with deep hands-on experience in Liferay DXP (7.x+), OSGi architecture, and web portal development.
- Front-End & Integration Skills:
Solid knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, and modern frameworks like React or Angular; proven experience with RESTful/SOAP APIs, database technologies, and application servers.
- Problem-Solving & Ownership:
A solution-driven approach with the ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues independently.
- Collaboration & Communication:
Clear communicator who works well in a team environment and can bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Continuous Learning:
Enthusiasm for staying current with Liferay releases, Java ecosystem advancements, and digital experience trends.
Liferay Developer Certification
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) or DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins)
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development
